Subtype detection
Subtype detection

Sequencing analysis of various geographic isolates illustrates that the HIV-1 virus is comprised of multiple subtypes distributed throughout the world1. While HIV-1 subtype B predominates in western countries, studies now confirm that the incidence of other subtypes is increasing all over the world. The AMPLICOR HIV-1 MONITOR Test v 1.5 features a new primer set designed to ensure reliable detection of non-B subtypes (HIV-1 Group-M). Various independent evaluations of the AMPLICOR HIV-1 MONITOR v1.5 confirm that the new primer set provides accurate measurement of HIV-1 subtypes A-G(see Figure 4). This revised test provides accurate HIV-1 Group-M viral load results across diverse geographic populations, thus offering more patients access to a better course of treatment.
