Combination therapy for HIV is complicated because different drugs have different requirements, eg, some protease inhibitors have to be taken with food, others without, and most have to be taken twice or three times a day (Table 1). A daily plan of when to take the different drugs can help. Some plans are easier to follow than others, depending on which combination of drugs is prescribed.
