About HIV: Introduction

Although there remains much to be done, what has been achieved so far in understanding and responding to HIV, through science, through politics, by communities and by individuals, demonstrates our astonishing ability as a species to mobilise intellectual, cultural and practical resources when human life is threatened.

The key to this success is in understanding. From delineating and monitoring the scale of the HIV epidemic, to studying the virus and its lifecycle in detail, and developing effective diagnostic and therapeutic tools, our response to HIV depends on acquiring and advancing knowledge.

This section of Roche-HIV.com provides an overview of current understanding about the virus, its impact, and its management.
